Stages of Pregnancy

Pregnancy, it is said, is the most rewarding and fulfilling time in a woman’s life. It is a time of excitement, yet apprehension for the parents, and especially for a new mother. A woman’s body goes through various changes in these three trimesters.

First Trimester of Pregnancy

The first trimester of a pregnancy is critical. It also can be challenging to cope with as the woman generally feels unwell during this time. The first trimester is calculated from the day of conception to the 12th week of pregnancy. The first trimester is the time when several hormonal changes take place in the body. Women in their first trimester tend to experience nausea, fatigue, food cravings, and dizziness. Some women also go through intense food aversion. They may be a change in their complexion. Second Trimester of Pregnancy

The second trimester is the period from the 13th-28th week of pregnancy. During this time, women can experience some movement in the womb. This is also the time when the umbilical cord starts thickening, to supply food and oxygen to the fetus. This is a sign of the baby’s growth. Third Trimester of Pregnancy

The time between the 29th week until the baby is born is the third trimester. This is the time when the woman will change her physical shape and size, due to the baby’s growth. A well-balanced diet along with plenty of rest is advised to the woman during this period. Women should avoid lifting weights or standing for an extended period in their third trimester.
